The heat pump market in the EU is growing rapidly. Annual sales could rise to seven million units by 2030, according to estimates by the International Energy Agency (IEA). But European manufacturers are increasingly facing competition from China. Many components already come from the People’s Republic anyway. This brings back memories of the abrupt decline of the German photovoltaic industry. Fifteen years ago, the industry collapsed in the face of low-cost competition from China.
