This morning there will be a showdown in Strasbourg: just before 9 a.m., Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is due to drive up to the European Parliament and go straight to the plenary chamber. There, first Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and then the representatives of the political groups will let him know what they think of his government’s judicial reform and the recent ruling by the Polish Constitutional Court in particular: mostly very little.
