The findings are sobering: In less than twenty years, humanity will have emitted such an amount of greenhouse gas that global warming will reach the 1.5-degree mark. There is hardly any way around this, as the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change points out. The task now is to prevent (even) worse things from happening – through an immediate, rapid and far-reaching reduction in emissions. Environmental politicians are also calling for the EU to step up its game in its Green Deal plans.
