Dragoș Tudorache will become head of the newly created AI Safety unit in the new AI Office. This is reported by Contexte. Tudorache, one of the two co-rapporteurs for the AI Act in the European Parliament, is to take over unit A.3 in the Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technologies (CNECT). It is responsible for security in the field of artificial intelligence and oversees the evaluation and testing of general purpose AI (GPAI) models, particularly those with systemic risks. During the negotiations, Tudorache had vehemently advocated the creation of an AI agency or an AI office at European level.
