Limit values for air pollutants will be halved by 2030. 25 new substances will be added to a list of the most dangerous water polluters. Manufacturers will be held accountable for residues of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics in wastewater.

The Commission wants to make water and air cleaner. To this end, it has presented proposals for directives on air pollution control and wastewater treatment, as well as measures to protect groundwater from pollution. 25 substances with problematic consequences for nature and humans are to be added to the list of water pollutants to protect surface waters.
