EP Plenary session - Resumption of session and order of business — EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola advocates an interinstitutional ethics authority.

Following the failure of the reform of the Rules of Procedure to establish the inter-institutional ethics authority, the EPP has a plan: it wants to reform the internal parliamentary procedures in the event of misconduct and then put the termination of the inter-institutional agreement to a vote in plenary.

Following the blocking of the cross-institutional ethics authority in Parliament’s Constitutional Affairs Committee (AFCO), the EPP has announced a proposal for a new internal disciplinary body. Sven Simon (CDU): „The EPP will shortly present a proposal to reform internal procedures in cases of misconduct.“ According to the head of AFCO, he hopes that a majority for this will be found in Parliament. „In a second step, I would then propose a vote in plenary on the termination of the interinstitutional agreement.“
