Employment Commissioner Roxana Mînzatu has presented her first major project: her declaration on the Union of Skills. Her aim is to tackle the shortage of skilled workers. This is currently a key obstacle to the competitiveness of companies, according to both companies and the Commission. Director-General Mario Nava (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion) said on Wednesday at the EU Social Forum that 80 percent of small and medium-sized enterprises currently have problems finding suitable staff.
