The EU foreign ministers have formally adopted the 17th sanctions package against Russia and are now discussing the next round of punitive measures to further increase pressure. „There must be no taboos,“ said Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.

„It’s time to intensify the pressure on Russia to bring about the ceasefire,“ EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X. She had spoken with President Zelenskiy to discuss next steps. An 18th sanctions package is in the works. On Tuesday, EU foreign ministers formally adopted the 17th package in Brussels, sanctioning another 189 tankers in Russia’s shadow fleet.
