Alexandra de Hoop Scheffer is the new President of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF). The French-Dutch political scientist replaces Heather A. Conley and is the first European woman to hold this position. In March, Claudia Major, one of the leading German voices in security and defense policy, moved to the GMF in Berlin as Senior Vice President and Member of the Executive Board. The GMF is one of the most important transatlantic think tanks with headquarters in Washington and several offices in Europe.
