The current head of the Legal and Organization Department, Jan Stöß (51), will become the new civil servant State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg). Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also decided to replace the long-standing State Secretary for Armaments, Benedikt Zimmer (63), with Jens Plötner (57) in the summer. The former foreign policy advisor to Olaf Scholz and former head of Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s office is controversial because he is considered by many to represent a foreign policy that was once too Russia-friendly. The only woman at management level at the BMVg, Parliamentary State Secretary Siemtje Möller, was replaced by Nils Schmid in May.
