It was 1985, the year the innovative technology of today was still in its infancy. The PDF was more of a promise than a real format. That was when Andreas Dengel threw himself into a dissertation for Siemens. It was about the computer analyzing scanned documents and reading out relevant content. His eureka moment. The artificial intelligence behind it could do what we would call „reading“ in humans.
