The environmental measures provided for in the CAP strategic plans are inadequate in the view of the EU auditors.

According to a report by the EU Court of Auditors, the EU countries’ strategic plans for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are not in line with the objectives of the Green Deal. However, the auditors do not believe that the CAP should be more centralized in Brussels again.

The national CAP strategy plans fall short of the EU’s environmental and climate targets. This is the conclusion of the EU Court of Auditors in a new report. The plans are „not much more environmentally ambitious“ than the Common Agricultural Policy before the latest reform came into force, which was supposed to make EU agricultural funds significantly „greener.“
