Just a few days before the temporary EU customs facilitations (ATMs) for Ukraine expire on Thursday, Brussels has started negotiations with Kyiv on future trade conditions. Aaccording to a European Commission spokesperson, an initial meeting took place on Monday. Far too late to reach a new agreement before this week’s deadline. The more restrictive tariffs and quotas that applied before the Russian war of aggression are to come back into force on a transitional basis. This way, the Commission says it wants to create more time for negotiations on a longer-term solution.
