Because Viktor Orbán is evading Russia sanctions, the Estonian foreign minister is calling for Hungary to be stripped of its voting rights in the Council.

After Hungary forced the lifting of EU sanctions against several Russians, Estonia is calling for the country’s voting rights in the EU to be suspended. „Hungary is systematically working against the common security interests of Europe and we must quickly take specific steps,“ said Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in Tallinn. According to Estonian ideas, a procedure under Article 7 of the EU Treaty should be initiated. This provides for the possibility of suspending the voting rights of member states if they seriously and persistently violate EU values.
