Russia’s recent actions in the Baltic Sea and Arctic waters are increasing tensions with NATO. Russian navy warships have escorted tankers of the Russian shadow fleet in the Baltic Sea in at least two cases. These military escorts are a completely new development, Finland’s Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen told Finnish public broadcaster YLE. Two Russian fighter jets have also violated Finnish airspace.
