The S&D and the Greens voted against the resolution after the Christian Democrats, with the votes of the radical right, voted an amendment on the ethics authority into the resolution.

For the first time in the history of the European Parliament, the resolution on the discharge of the 2023 budget failed in committee. The resolution will now also not be presented to the plenary. This means that the EU institutions will not receive the demands and instructions to remedy the situation that the political groups had previously agreed on.

The resolution on the discharge for the 2023 financial year did not receive a majority in the Budgetary Control Committee. Socialists, Greens and the far-right Patriots and Sovereignists voted against the report by Monika Hohlmeier (CSU). Renew abstained.
