Das norwegische CCS-Projekt Northern Lights will auch CO2 aus der EU speichern - und wurde jetzt fertiggestellt.
The Norwegian CCS project Northern Lights stores CO₂ in geological formations. The EU Commission is now calling for European oil and gas companies to develop similar storage facilities.

At the end of last week, the EU took a major step towards the development of geological CO₂ storage facilities. Under the Net Zero Industry Act, 44 European oil and gas companies are obliged to provide CO₂ storage capacities of 50 million tons by 2030. This was announced by the European Commission in the form of a Delegated Regulation. Depending on their share of European oil and gas production, companies must develop geological storage facilities of different sizes.
