Commission on the AI Act: ‘All options are open for consideration.’

Executive Vice President Henna Virkkunen is working on an omnibus for digital simplification. The AI Act is also open for consideration.

The Commission is stopping the clock on parts of the AI Act. The bans under the Artificial Intelligence Regulation have already been in force since Feb. 2. And the new provisions for general-purpose AI (GPAI) are also due to come into force on Aug. 2 as planned. „At the same time, the Commission is working on an upcoming omnibus on digital simplification,“ a Commission spokesperson told Table.Briefings. „In this simplification context, all options are currently open for consideration.“
