On 15 January 2025, Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, and Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare, give a press conference on the European Action Plan on the Cybersecurity of Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, following the weekly meeting of the von der Leyen Commission in Brussels. — Henna Virkkunen and Olivér Várhelyi presented the European Cybersecurity Action Plan for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers in Brussels.

The Commission wants to increase trust in digital healthcare services and their security. To this end, it has developed an action plan for cybersecurity for hospitals and healthcare providers.

In order to better protect the healthcare sector from cyber threats, the EU Commission has presented an action plan to strengthen the cybersecurity of hospitals and healthcare providers. This action plan is one of the priorities within the first 100 days of the new mandate. It aims to enable hospitals and healthcare providers to better detect, defend against and respond to threats.
