A new study by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) warns pro-European parties against heavily promoting (perceived) successes in crisis management during the election campaign. Unlike political leaders such as Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, many citizens view the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine or climate change negatively, write the authors Ivan Krastev and Mark Leonard based on a survey in twelve member states.
