ECJ Advocate General: thermal windows are illegal

Diesel vehicles with exhaust gas purification software that switches off under certain climatic conditions are not compatible with EU law, according to Advocate General Athanasios Rantos. In his opinion to the European Court of Justice (ECJ), Rantos thus classifies the so-called thermal windows, as used by VW and Porsche, as a prohibited defeat device.
