Egypt: Human rights activist regains passport after German intervention.

Mohammed Abdel Salam is the managing director of the Egyptian human rights organization AFTE.

The Egyptian human rights activist Mohammed Abdel Salam has his passport back. Just a few days after the country’s National Security Service (NSS) confiscated it at Cairo International airport, the domestic intelligence service contacted the director of the Association for the Freedom of Thought and Expression (AFTE) by phone last Friday. It was said to have been an oversight. The German government had previously raised the case with the Egyptian authorities in Berlin.
