Already the first important building block in the EU strategy for affordable housing has been delayed. As Table.Briefings has learned, the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB) has not yet given its approval to the EIB Action Plan for Affordable Housing. The plan, which was presented in March, includes an increase in funding for affordable and sustainable housing to €10 billion for this year and next. With this, a total of 1.5 million new or renovated housing units are to be created across Europe – twice as many as before.
