Germany, France and Poland should commit to strategic trilateral cooperation on climate policy. A total of 14 environmental organizations from the three countries are calling for this in an open letter ahead of the EU Environment Council meeting in Luxembourg on Wednesday. They propose that new „coordination and exchange formats for an intensive climate dialogue between the three states“ should be set up as early as next year, involving not only politicians but also think tanks and civil society. The model for the environmental tri-state group will be the Weimar Triangle, which was established 30 years ago and primarily serves to coordinate European and foreign policy.
