EU commissioner warns of rising energy poverty

Millions of people in Europe are already affected by energy poverty, EU Labor Commissioner Nicolas Schmit warns in view of rising energy prices. He stressed that the EU Commission could support the member states in containing the effects of high prices – for example through the toolbox presented on Wednesday. However, the member states would have to take the concrete measures themselves.
