The proportion of gross final energy consumption accounted for by renewable energies in Germany has risen at a below-average rate in recent years compared with the rest of the EU. As the Federal Statistical Office announced on Tuesday, the share of renewable energies in gross final energy consumption increased from 13.9 percent to 19.7 percent on average in the EU between 2009 and 2019. In Germany, however, the share only increased from 10.9 to 17.4 percent in the period under review. Germany thus ranks 16th out of 27 EU member states.
