Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) can continue broadcasting for the time being. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth has granted an application for a temporary injunction. Last week, the foreign broadcaster had challenged a closure order issued by the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM). The agency had cut off the channel’s funding with immediate effect and de facto forced it to cease broadcasting. This was despite the fact that the US Congress had already approved budget funds of USD 140 million until September.
