CDU foreign policy expert Knut Abraham is considered the favorite to become the German government’s new envoy to Poland. The decision will be made by the cabinet on Wednesday. Also in the race is his party colleague Paul Ziemiak, Secretary General of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia. Abraham’s constituency is not far from the Polish border in Elbe-Elster and Oberspreewald-Lausitz in Brandenburg. From 2018 to 2021, he was the envoy and permanent representative of the Head of the Embassy in Warsaw.
