Lagarde: inflation spurt will not last

Despite rapidly rising prices, ECB chief Christine Lagarde sees no danger of inflation getting out of hand. Some factors could drive up inflation more than expected, she said on Monday in a hearing before the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. She said this applies, for example, to the influence of wage rounds. Other possible price drivers are supply bottlenecks and high energy costs.
