Mining companies commit to ‘net zero’ by 2050

Leading global mining companies pledged on Tuesday to stop emitting carbon by 2050 or sooner. The announcement was made by the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). The announcement comes ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in November, where more ambitious climate action will be agreed by the nearly 200 countries that signed the 2015 Paris Agreement to limit global warming.
