Until now, MEPs have had fixed seats in the European Parliament. In future, there will no longer be fixed seats. MEPs are required to take the seats at the front.

The fixed seats in the European Parliament will be abolished. This is provided for in the reform of the Rules of Procedure, which was adopted in plenary on Wednesday. This implements the „Parliament 2024“ reform agenda, which was developed in the working group headed by Rainer Wieland.

In the next parliamentary term, MEPs will no longer have fixed seats. Instead, they will be required to occupy the first rows in the plenary. This regulation is part of the reform of the European Parliament’s Rules of Procedure under the title „Parliament 2024„, which was adopted in plenary on Wednesday.
