Last year, 93.3 million people (21.0% of the population) in the EU were at risk of poverty and social exclusion. This was announced by the EU statistics authority Eurostat on Wednesday. This is a slight decrease of 0.3% and 700,000 people compared to the previous year (2023: 21.3% of the population, 94.6 million people). However, the EU still falls far short of its self-imposed target of reducing poverty by 15 million people by 2030.
