The SPD Economic Forum is calling for a targeted strengthening of the European defense industry. The aim must be „to have independent European suppliers for all relevant military requirements and technologies,“ according to a position paper to be published on Friday. To achieve this, the number of different weapon systems must be reduced and standardized to a greater extent. Whenever possible, procurement projects should be awarded to European suppliers, demands the organization, in which companies and industry associations are represented.
