SPD elects Barley as top candidate

Katarina Barley was elected as the SPD’s top candidate for the European elections.

Katarina Barley was elected as the SPD’s top candidate in the European elections with the votes of almost all delegates. The party executive’s list for the first 20 places was confirmed. All the battling candidates failed.

Katarina Barley was elected top candidate with 98.66 percent of the vote at the SPD’s European Party Conference. The 55-year-old called on people to fight for Europe: „The European Union is like so many beautiful things in the world: after a while, you take it for granted. And forget that such a community is precious.“
