Taxonomy: federal government alarmed

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is arguing for investments in nuclear energy to be classified as „sustainable“ in the taxonomy regulation, and the number of supporters is also growing among member states. The German Environment Ministry (BMU) is reacting alarmed: „The consequence of including nuclear energy in the taxonomy would be greenwashing of an environmentally harmful risk technology,“ a spokesperson told Europe.Table. This would „considerably endanger, if not destroy“ the credibility of the classification in the financial market.
