Patrick Pouyanné, head of the French energy giant Total Energies, is in favor of an energy agreement between the EU and the USA. In view of rising gas prices in the United States, there is a risk that US suppliers will reduce their liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, Pouyanné said at a conference in Berlin. Those responsible in the EU should therefore try to „negotiate a free trade agreement, at least in the energy sector, in order to prevent a change in policy in the USA.“
