The UK plans to invest GBP 1.5 billion (around EUR 1.8 billion) in the construction of at least six new munitions factories. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense in London on Sunday. The armed forces are also to receive up to 7,000 long-range weapons, which are to be manufactured in the UK. However, details such as the timetable were not given. Expenditure on ammunition is set to rise to GBP 6 billion (EUR 7.1 billion) in this parliamentary term. With the investments, the British Labor government also wants to create 1,000 new jobs and secure a further 800.
