US and EU seek agreement to reduce methane

In a joint declaration, the United States and the European Union want to commit to reducing man-made methane emissions by at least 30 percent by 2030 compared to 2020 levels. That is according to a draft of the Global Methane Pledge obtained by Reuters news agency. „Methane’s relatively short atmospheric lifetime and its strong warming potential mean that action to reduce emissions can slow the rate of warming,“ the paper says.
