Is modern drone technology making every Xianxia fan’s dream come true? Videos of a dance show in the Chinese city of Luoyang generate a social media buzz. In the show „Ode to the Goddess of Luo River“, the dancers appear to be floating through the air. Many onlookers initially suspected that sophisticated drone technology was behind this. In reality, however, the choreography is based on wire rope technology and cranes – all without high-tech drones. Elaborately staged dance shows like this are widespread in Luoyang and draw huge crowds. Xianxia fans will have to keep dreaming.
