Johann Wadephul (Christian Democratic Union, CDU) will be the new foreign minister of the Federal Republic of Germany. Table.Briefings learned this on Sunday. As the new highest-ranking diplomat, he will be responsible for implementing a China policy that sees the People’s Republic primarily as a systemic rival – as agreed in the coalition negotiations between the Christian Democrats and the Social Democrats.
