These are set to come into force next Tuesday, as are the planned tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico. A White House official confirmed to the US television channel CNBC on Thursday morning that the tariffs for Beijing will total 20 percent. Trump had announced plans to raise the tariffs in a post on the social media platform Truth Social.
