The EU Commission wants to attract more scientists from all over the world to the EU with half a billion euros. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a €500 million program called „Choose Europe“ during a speech at the Sorbonne University in Paris. This aims to turn Europe into a magnet for researchers between 2025 and 2027. International researchers „who opt for Europe will receive higher salaries and longer contracts,“ promised von der Leyen.
