Budget Commissioner Serafin admitted in Parliament that criticism of the contracts for NGO funding was justified.

The Transparent Democracy Initiative (ITD), which was founded in Berlin on Thursday, aims to expose the financial and structural links between state-funded NGOs. Its chairwoman is the criminal tax lawyer Anja Stürzl. According to its own account, the initiative is supported by around 100 participants from the fields of business, media, churches and culture. Members of the association include Reiner Holznagel, President of the Taxpayers’ Association, former politicians Oliver Luksic (FDP) and Christina Schröder (CDU), Augsburg law professor Josef Franz Lindner and entrepreneur Alexander zu Schaumburg-Lippe. The new transparency NGO does not yet disclose any information about its funding on its website. When asked, ITD says that there are no patrons or membership fees yet and that funding will only be clarified in the next step.
