Trump’s tariffs: Commission postpones retaliatory measures until mid-April.

The EU Commission has postponed its response to the US steel and aluminum tariffs by two weeks. Instead, the two planned packages of measures are to be coordinated in terms of timing. Originally, the Commission had planned to react to the US steel and aluminum tariffs in two stages. On the first of April, the tariffs on US products, which had been lifted in the meantime in response to the steel tariffs imposed during Trump’s first term in office, were due to come back into force. Further counter-tariffs were planned for mid-April in response to the wider scope of the new steel tariffs.
