The study „The Huawei Saga in Europe Revisited: German Lessons for the Rollout of 6G“ analyzes the debate around the role of Chinese telecommunications provider Huawei in the European 5G rollout, with a particular focus on Germany as a key case study. While the EU attempted to deliver a coordinated response through its 5G Toolbox, member states pursued very different approaches depending on their political, economic and technological interests, writes Tim Nicholas Rühlig. Looking ahead to the next-generation 6G rollout, the study warns against a repeat of this fragmented strategy.
