AI Act: A ‘stop the clock’ approach becomes increasingly likely.

The possibility that the Commission will extend implementation deadlines beyond what is currently stipulated in the AI Act is growing. Due to delays in developing the necessary technical standards, Germany is „very open to reviewing the extension of implementation deadlines“ for the AI Act, said Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger on Friday at the Telecommunications Council in Luxembourg. Since these standards are not yet available, a critical prerequisite for businesses to comply with the law is currently lacking.
