The auto industry continues to push back against the combustion engine ban set for 2035. A draft position paper by the VDA reveals demands for a loosening of CO2 fleet regulations, which would lead to higher emissions.

In the draft of an unpublished ten-point plan, the VDA calls for lifting the combustion engine ban planned for 2035. Given poor sales of fully electric vehicles, „more flexibility and strengthened technological neutrality in regulations“ is necessary, the paper says, according to Table.Briefings.
