Ukrainian refugees: Commission aims to extend protection until March 2027.

The EU Commission wants to extend the protection status for refugees from Ukraine by one year. This would create legal certainty for the member states and reassure Ukrainians that they would not have to apply for asylum, said Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner. The protection status would expire in March, but is now to be extended until March 4, 2027, in view of the uncertain prospects in Ukraine.
