In 2024, the world’s largest car manufacturer Toyota sold around 10.8 million cars, more than any other company in the world. Volkswagen followed in second place with nine million vehicles. However, just like the German company, the Japanese are also struggling with shrinking market shares in the Chinese market. Domestic manufacturers like BYD, BAIC and Geely have increasingly dominated local sales figures.
