Chinese car manufacturers export more vehicles to Russia than to any other country. In 2024, they sold almost 1.2 million cars. They have filled the gap after international brands withdrew from Russia following the start of the war. However, driven by Russian manufacturer AvtoVAZ, the government in Moscow now questions this solution. New tariffs, higher taxes and stricter vehicle controls have put pressure on Chinese car manufacturers. Some dealers have reportedly already withdrawn.
